As of yesterday, Aaron and I are officially landlords…which also means we are basically homeless for the next 9 months and couldn’t be happier!

On Thursday of last week, we had a showing at 10am. By 11am, our realtor let us know that they were interested. By the end of the day we had an application. All checked out great except that they wanted to move in on Dec. 30th–and it was currenty the 22nd!  So began the  mad dash to get the house packed up in time to be home for Christmas Dinner in Albuquerque (who can pass up Prime Rib and chocolate fondue….).

All our belongings!

We finally finished cleaning the house at 10pm on Christmas Eve and celebrated with dinner at Applebee’s (the only restaurant we could find open on Christmas Eve). We took our last load to the storage unit on our way out of town on Christmas morning! I have never been so happy to be able to just sit in a car for 10 hours–What a relief!  With the renting of the house, we feel as though one big part of our journey is already complete. Having a rental property is something we have always wanted to do and while it was (and will continue to be) overwhelming at times, we are excited to have started this process.

Our Favorite Guy!

We are now in Denver spending time with  Aaron’s Grandpa and family. We’ll head to Durango on New Year’s Eve to spend some time with Abby’s Mom and then head back to Albuquerque for a few days before heading to Midland to visit Abby’s sister and husband.  After that we’ll return home and have some time to get ready before heading to Ecuador on the 17th.

We are so happy about all the time we are able to spend with family and friends. This too is an important part on our adventure and we feel so blessed that we are able to take this opportunity to enjoy our time with everyone.
