Cuenca ~ Hostal El Capitolio (the 2nd)

Location: Cuenca, Ecuador
Date of stay: March 2012 (1 night)
Cost: $10pp w/private bath and double bed.

Lonely Planet recommends Hostel El Capitolio on Vazquez y Hermano Miguel (located on Hermano Miguel). What they don’t mention is that there are multiple El Capitolio’s in Cuenca, one of which is located on the same cross streets, just on Vazquez, not Hermano Miguel. The one we stayed at actually owns the hostelelcapitolio.com website and so, we made a reservation based on that assuming it was the same one in the book. When we arrived, there was a sign on the door stating that this used to be such and such hostal (can’t remember the old name).  The hostel itself wasn’t bad, but we just didn’t feel the vibe. In addition to the sound in the lobby being amplified up into our room, we didn’t feel welcome by the owners. We moved after one night. They did have hot water in the sink which Abby loves and the wifi was pretty decent in our room.
