Quito ~ Hostal La Posada Colonial

Location: Quito, Ecuador (Centro Historico)
Cost: $7 pp with shared bath, 9 pp with private bath (for single or double room)
Date of Stay: March 2012 (6 nights)

Located very close (1 block) from La Ronda – a very nice walking street with numerous restaurants, shops, etc. hotel was always clean, secure, and the staff was very friendly – greeting us, calling taxis for us, etc. there is a shared kitchen and large cafeteria area with tables for eating.  at the time we were there, there was not a restaurant.

There is an outdoor patio and roof top terrace, but they are minimally setup, and not often used.
Overall the rooms are very basic, budget rooms, with just a bed, and nightstand.

Jaime, the hotel manager is wonderful. He is willing to give information and help in any way. They were always willing to call a taxi for any hour and the taxis were always right on time.

Room recommendations: Stayed in several different rooms over the course of staying there – 2 is the nicest room, with a large room and balcony.  1 is also nice, but narrow with a tiny bathroom, with the sink in the shower.  5 and 6 were on the second floor, but did not have private baths, and the bed on 5 was very old and creaked everytime you moved.  15 and 16 (on the 1st floor) were older, and not as well maintained, but fine. Wifi only worked in rooms 1 and 2 but there was a lot of communal space where the internet worked great.
